Since its humble beginnings in Newport, New York in (around) 1840 the name Yale has become associated with quality and security around the world.

The ingenuity of Linus Yale Sr, who first set up his shop specialising in handmade bank locks, and his son Linus Jr who saw that his father’s designs could work equally well to protect small businesses and most importantly in customer’s homes, have helped make a Yale Door a force to be reckoned with.

The Yale door has come a long way since its humble beginnings and throughout the company’s time it has constantly developed its range and the complexity to improve security; especially important given the increased value of our homes, furnishings and belongings.

The most famous of these designs is the Pin Tumbler, which Linus Yale Jr developed using an idea from Ancient Egyptian times. The Pin Tumbler works on the principle that the lock has many pins inside it of differing lengths and for all these to turn (to open the door) at the same time the key must be a certain shape.

Yale Doors have, for many years been fitted with these Pin Tumbler locks and they have become essential for both security and in many cases insurance purposes.

As times have changed though we have become more reliant on electricity, especially when it comes to security and the Yale door has been at the forefront of the demanded changes.

The Yale Keyless Entry System is the first of its kind. Using a four number code rather than a key the door can be locked and unlocked electronically rather than with a clumsy key.

Using a digital or electronic lock has many advantages; no more lost keys or locked in keys and if a member of the family forgets the code it can always be messaged to them – certainly never an option you could have with a key.

Up to now many people have found a keypad door lock to be a turn-off as they can end up looking like office doors and don’t always give the right look to visitors and passers-by. Yale Doors have seen this problem and designed all their electronic doors to not only have the high standards of security that is expected from a Yale Door but to have a discreet design which blends effortlessly with doors of all styles.

Fusiondoors.co.uk combine the security guarantees of a Yale Door with our visually stunning range of traditional and contemporary front door and back doors giving you the pride and peace of mind that only Yale could deliver.
