The need to be constantly aware of security has introduced an innovation known as Yale Keyfree locks, into the area of how the external doors that are manufactured by Fusion Doors can be locked.

You can now have a locking system that is truly ‘key free’. The Yale keyfree system is primarily operated by a keypad, so you have no need to carry a front door key with you.

The Yale keyfree’s locking mechanism

The locking mechanism of a Yale Keyfree system is the same as for a conventional key lock as is approved by leading insurance companies and police forces. The lock will provide you with total security should you be at home or out conducting your private business.

The mechanism fitted by Fusion Doors can be operated by the use of a keypad or a remote control fob. There are no wires to worry about, as the lock is battery operated. Should the batteries fail then there is a 9v battery port or a mechanical cylinder.

No matter what happens you will always be able to enter your home.

Am I secure when inside the house?

Every time you enter the house, the Yale keyfree lock will activate behind you so that you feel secure. There is a normal mortice lock handle on the inside of the door so that when you wish to leave the house, you just need to depress this handle. This means that should the house unfortunately catch fire you will still have a rapid means of access via the Yale keyfree door.

If you feel that you need to add to the security of your home as you wish to support the Yale Keyfree system, then you may add a door chain and a letterbox protector.

Is the Yale keyfree safe for children?

Should you have young children then you may be concerned that they can use the handle to open the door from the inside and thus leave the family home. At Fusion Doors we can show you how to guard against this by setting the lock to ‘child safety mode’ where an alarm will sound if the handle is depressed from the inside.
